Their mission is to “inspire the high desert community to care for and protect native wildlife through education, conservation, rescue, and rehabilitation.”

Their primary purpose is to “further the knowledge, education, enjoyment, and science of birds and birding in Oregon” by awarding ornithology grants, publishing a journal, sponsoring field trips, and awarding scholarships to young birders to attend the OBA annual meeting.
